Bimetal band saw blades mainly refer to metal cutting band saw blades whose tooth tip material is high-speed steel or other high-performance steel, and whose saw band material is low-alloy spring steel.
The material of bimetal band saw blades is mainly made of two metals, such as teeth and back, welded by electron beam (or laser).
Band saw blade tooth material: In the early stage, the bimetal band saw blade materials were M2 and M4. Because their hardness was too low, they were gradually eliminated.
Nowadays, the common tooth materials on the market are generally based on M42 alloy steel, and there is also high tungsten cobalt alloy tool steel. The more advanced ones have tooth materials and M51.
Band saw blade back material: Due to different standards in various countries in the world, the material grades are expressed in different ways, mainly divided into: X32, B318, RM80, B313, D6A, 505, etc. But these all belong to the 46CrNiMoVA material series.
The tooth material of the band saw blade has the characteristics of high hardness, high wear resistance, high red hardness (it can maintain its hardness no matter how high the temperature is), etc. The tooth material of the band saw blade M42 contains more than 8% cobalt, which is an ideal alloy high-speed steel material. The back material has very good fatigue resistance.
Bimetal band saw blades are widely used: Bimetal band saw blades are mainly used to cut ordinary ferrous metals, such as cast iron, cast steel, rolled round steel, square steel, pipes, and steel; they can also be used to cut hard and sticky metals such as alloy tool steel, alloy structural steel, mold steel, bearing steel, stainless steel, etc.; they can also cut non-ferrous metals such as copper and aluminum. If you want to choose a suitable and reasonable tooth shape (skip teeth), it can be used to cut frozen fish, frozen meat, and hard frozen objects; bimetallic band saw blades with a large number of teeth after some special processing are also commonly used to cut hard and precious woods such as mahogany, oak, and iron pear wood
