The concept and advantages of PVD

Nov 04, 2024

The PVD process mainly includes the following steps 3:

Pretreatment process: material sampling, baking (80 degrees), coating (vacuum to 4.5P).
PVD processing technology: The principle of PVD coating technology is to use low-voltage and high-current arc discharge technology under vacuum conditions, use gas discharge to evaporate the target material and ionize the evaporated material and gas at the same time, and use the acceleration of the electric field to deposit the evaporated material and its reaction products on the workpiece.
The thickness of the PVD coating layer is micron-level, and the thickness is relatively thin, generally 0.3μm-5μm. Therefore, it can improve various physical and chemical properties of the workpiece surface without affecting the original size of the workpiece, and no further processing is required after plating. By controlling the relevant parameters in the coating process, the color of the coating can be controlled; after the coating is completed, the color can be measured with relevant instruments, the color can be quantified, and it can be judged whether the plated color meets the requirements.
The PVD coating layer has a stronger bonding force with the workpiece surface, the film layer has a higher hardness, better wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and the performance of the film layer is more stable; PVD coating does not produce toxic and polluting substances. The purpose of decorative coating is mainly to improve the appearance, decorative performance and color of the workpiece, and at the same time make the workpiece more wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant to extend its service life.
