Bimetal saw band comprises a supporting band made from steel containing 0.1-2.0 weight % tungsten and/or 0.1-1.0 weight % copper and hard metal tips made from at least 75 weight % tungsten carbide, 5-15 weight % cobalt and 0.5-5 weight % of at least one carbide selected from Cr3C2, VC and NbC and up to 3 weight % titanium and/or titanium carbide as grain stabilizers having a grain size of less than 5 microns. 

Preferred Features: The supporting band further contains 0.2-0.45 % weight  carbon, less than 0.2 %  weight, 1.0-5.0  % weight chromium, 0.1-0.5 % weight vanadium and 0.01-0.30 % weight niobium and/or  titanium.
