Adjust the blush
Most of my customers often overlook the importance of regularly replacing and adjusting their chip brush, which can significantly impact blade life. Proper placement requires that you only cover the first few millimeters of a tooth. It is essential to remove the brush once it has lost all "spring" in its bristles. If the brush is positioned too far inward, it may lead to excessive wear on your teeth and misalignment of the blade. Additionally, if the brush is not engaged properly, you risk recutting chips (solid pieces of metal) and potentially fusing them to the part being manufactured.
To be candid, positioning a chip brush demands slightly more finesse than attaching a blade; however, when executed correctly, it ultimately reduces overall blade changes. Increased uptime translates into greater profitability for everyone involved.
