Key Points for Using Woodworking Circular Saw Blades

Mar 07, 2026

1. Blade Selection: Matching the Processing Requirements

1.1 Tooth Shape Selection: Determines the Cutting Method

ATB (Alternate Top Bevel)
Suitable for cross-cutting various solid woods, veneers, and wood-based panels. It provides a smooth cutting surface and is the most versatile tooth shape.

FT (Flat Top)
Suitable for ripping and rough machining. It offers strong chip removal capability and is ideal for cutting thicker wood.

TCG (Tri-Chip Grind)
Suitable for cutting hardwoods, laminates, and composite materials. It offers good wear resistance and a flat cutting surface.

Hollow Face
Specifically designed for grooving or cutting thin sheets to prevent edge chipping.

1.2 Tooth Count Selection: Balancing Efficiency and Quality

High Tooth Count (60T and above): Produces a smooth cutting surface, suitable for fine finishing, but requires a slower feed rate to avoid overheating.

Low Tooth Count (24T–40T): Provides fast chip removal, suitable for rapid cutting of thick materials, but results in a rougher cutting surface.

Rule of Thumb: The thinner and harder the material, the higher the tooth count should be; the thicker and softer the material, the lower the tooth count can be.

1.3 Body Material and Structure

65Mn Steel: A commonly used material with good toughness and high cost-performance ratio, suitable for most wood processing applications.

SKS Alloy Steel: A high-end material with excellent thermal stability, suitable for high-speed cutting or precision machining.

Laser-Cut Body: Offers high precision and low internal stress, ideal for applications requiring long-term flatness.

Noise Reduction Slots: Some blades feature laser-cut slots designed to effectively reduce noise during high-speed operation.
