Daily Maintenance of HSS Circular Saw Blades

Oct 09, 2026

Proper daily maintenance is essential to maximize the service life and cutting performance of HSS circular saw blades.

After each use, the blade should be cleaned promptly.

Remove chips, debris, and deposits from the tooth gullets using a suitable brush or compressed air.

Keeping the gullets clear prevents chip packing, which can cause overheating, increased cutting resistance, and tooth damage during subsequent operations.

If the blade is not to be used immediately, it should be stored correctly.

Place it flat on a clean, dry surface, or hang it vertically using the central bore.

Never stack other tools or materials on top of the blade, as this may cause distortion, tooth chipping, or micro-cracks that compromise cutting accuracy and safety.

Adequate protection against moisture and corrosion is equally important.

Apply a light film of anti-rust oil to the blade surface, and store it in a dry, well-ventilated environment. Avoid contact with damp floors or corrosive substances.

By following these simple practices-cleaning after every use, proper storage, and rust prevention-operators can maintain sharpness, ensure dimensional stability, and significantly extend the working life of HSS circular saw blades.
